Can you believe Thanksgiving is less than a week away already? I swear it comes quicker every year…though I’m still trying to adjust to it being the last week of November instead of the second to last week. Josh already busted me listening to Christmas music on the TV this week, so I’m trying to get myself ready for all the Paleo cooking that’s about to ensue. I even asked if he had any input on the Thanksgiving meal itself, since my parents will be coming up, and he said ‘Yes, you don’t have to cook it all by yourself, you know.’ Ain’t he sweet! I’m so used to cooking 99% of our meals that it will be a nice break to have some help in the kitchen (and hopefully the clean-up).
When compiling this list, I wanted to share a few tasty recipes that I recently tried and couldn’t wait to share with you. I usually post them on my Facebook page, but not everyone gets to see those posts, so here’s a great place to keep them all together.
I really haven’t given too much thought to this year’s menu except to get my free-range organic turkey from Natural Grocer’s thawed in the fridge. I’ve been trying to stay on top of keeping those birds in the freezer when they go on sale half way through the year. I’m also trying to incorporate the veggies that come in the organic co-op I host, so that will determine a big chunk of the sides this year. And of course you can’t think about Thanksgiving without the desserts, so those will be discussed this weekend and hopefully shared with you to give you some inspiration.
Let me know what you are planning to cook or if these recipes have inspired you to try something new (like the beet recipe). Click on the recipe name to find the recipe.
*Note: I subbed Coconut Milk for the heavy cream and Nutritional Yeast for the cheese to make it dairy-free.
Do you have any special plans for Thanksgiving? Will you be traveling, will you be doing the cooking, or will you just be putting on your sweat pants and indulging in all the overeating?
