I love to read. When I say that, I mean I.LOVE.TO.READ! It’s not uncommon for me to have 3 or 4 books going at one time and yet I somehow keep them all separate in my head. I can remember in my 8th grade English class when the teacher asked if anyone had read Pride and Prejudice and I was the only one to raise my hand. To this day it’s still one of my favorite books. Around that same time I thought it would be fun to start Moby Dick for the heck of it…seriously what was I thinking!? I am a book nerd (just ask my hubby) and totally okay with it. But the point of this post, besides telling you that I love to read and that’s how I find a lot of my crunchy ideas, is to tell you about a website a friend of mine shared with me. The site is called BetterWorldBooks and it’s about buying books with a purpose. Yes, Amazon is a lot lower and I’ve been known to order a boatload from them but I like that this site has a cause. They have donated over 6.1 Million books and raised over $11 Million for literacy and libraries! That’s a lot and amazing at the same time. You can at least check them out and see what you think (they also offer free shipping worldwide).
So I say give it a shot. You may be tempted to buy a book cheaper somewhere else but imagine doing good while expanding your mind at the same time. I can’t even begin to tell you how important reading is for the brain and the soul, so check out my good reads tab and start exploring what’s beyond the boob tube! You can never read too much especially to our little ones since books can open up a whole new world to them.
